You will always get through to a member of the administrative support team on the phone but the member of staff you are trying to contact may not be immediately available. If a message is left, colleagues will return your calls as soon as possible. Please title any email you send ‘for the attention’ of the member of staff you wish to contact.
The vast majority of your queries should be dealt with by contacting Tutors, subject leaders or Heads of Year but if you find your issues are not quickly resolved, please arrange to contact:
- Mr Connor (Deputy Head Teacher) if the issue relates to students in Key Stage 3
- Mr McCreedy (Director of the Achievement Centre) if the issue relates to SEND provision or the coordination of support from external agencies
- Mrs Oldham (Student Services Manager) if the issue relates to following up an incident your child has been involved in
- Mr Connor (Deputy Head Teacher) if the issue relates to the safeguarding of children
The school increasingly uses text messaging to keep parents up to date on school events, their child’s attendance and emergency closures . It is also very important that we can contact parents in the event of a child being taken ill or having an accident during the school day. It is therefore vital that you keep your contact details up to date. If you need to change your contact details, please inform the main school office.
To report a student absence please make sure you contact the school before 8.30am on the day of the absence. You will need to dial 0191 386 6628 and choose option 1 for student absences.
Parents are asked to please leave details of:
- Name of the student
- Tutor Group
- Reason for absence
Alternatively, parents may report an absence via email to email@example.com
Holidays and Leave of Absence
Due to recent changes in regulations from the Department for Education the school is unable to authorise holidays during school time. Holidays taken without authorisation are monitored by the Education Welfare Service and Fixed Penalty Notices may be issued.

If you wish to make a formal complaint or consider your enquiry to be serious enough to contact the Head Teacher, please do so by contacting Sarah Benson (PA to the Head Teacher).
Complaints should be put in writing (using the complaint form appendix within the complaints policy) and sent via the Head Teacher’s PA by post or through the following email address firstname.lastname@example.org
In cases of allegations against the Head Teacher, the matter should be raised with the Chair of the Local Governing Board in writing by addressing the complaint confidentially to the chair via the Head Teacher’s PA.
