Careers Guidance

Careers advice is an integrated part of the curriculum throughout a young person’s life at Framwellgate School Durham. Inspiration comes from curriculum areas, with themed weeks allowing students to experience real world situations relating to their subjects. More specific advice and guidance is delivered through PHSCE, the tutor programme and collapsed curriculum days.

Students will receive tailored advice and individual interviews prior to making important decisions relating to their next steps, these key times are:

  • In the second term of Year 9 when choosing their GCSE options
  • In the last term of Year 10 and throughout Year 11 when choosing their Post 16 options
  • Throughout Year 12 and 13 when choosing their Post 18 options

When considering their options students sometimes have a particular career in mind, or know they enjoy or are good at certain subjects. Some students might have very little idea of what they want to do in future. Either way we can provide advice to guide them to their next steps, this can be supported through research at home and the following websites may prove useful:
